SCRANTON, Pa. – The Immaculata women's tennis team closed out its regular season on Saturday when it visited Marywood for an Atlantic East Conference match. Immaculata opened strong in doubles play, but host Marywood rallied in singles to hand the Mighty Macs a 5–2 setback on Saturday afternoon.
The pairing of
Hailey Elwell and
Sophia Carey set the tone early with a 6–3 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Ashley Batejan and
Athena Kritikson secured the doubles point with a 6–4 victory in the third flight. Marywood claimed the No. 2 spot, but Immaculata carried a 1–0 lead into singles competition.
In singles, Marywood surged back by taking four of six matches. Kylie Kilgore evened the match with a straight-set win at No. 1, and Avianna Santarelli delivered a key comeback victory at No. 2 in three sets. Catarina English and Hanna Adonizio added wins at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, while Abigail Mach sealed the team victory with a straight sets result at No. 6. Batejan picked up Immaculata's lone singles win with a 6–4, 6–4 decision in the fifth flight.
