BALTIMORE, Md.- Immaculata swept its fourth Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader this season on Monday afternoon as the Mighty Macs took both ends from Notre Dame. Immaculata won game one, 19-2, and followed that with a 12-2 victory in the nightcap.
Immaculata improves to 13-15 overall and 8-4 in the CSAC. Notre Dame slips to 0-12 overall, 0-10 in the league.
The Mighty Macs exploded in the first inning plating 12 runs followed by five more in the third, and then tacked on a single in the fourth and fifth inning to shorten the game to five innings.
Meagan Fitzgerald,
Beth Anne Kircher, and
Jenny Barnholt posted three hits apiece and Fitzgerald added a team-high three RBI.
Fitzgerald earned the win in 3.0 innings allowing just two hits in the opener for the Mighty Macs. Allison Zborwski pitched the final two innings giving up one earned run on five hits.
In game two, Immaculata put three runs on the board in the first and answered the Gators' two runs in the third with a four-run fourth before closing out the game with five runs in the fifth inning.
Julia Lamplugh finished 2-for-4 and
Allison Zborowski also registered two hits with two runs and two RBI.
Maleaha Himmons led Immaculata with three runs and added two RBI.
Danielle Palmisano went the distance allowing just five hits and two earned runs while striking out four.
Immaculata returns home to face Cedar Crest on Tuesday April 10 at 3 p.m.
