SWARTHMORE, Pa.- The Immaculata University softball team dropped a pair of non-league games to Swarthmore on Thursday afternoon, 3-1 and 4-1.
The Mighty Macs got on the board first in the top of the second for its only run of the game on
Julia Lamplugh's homerun. The Garnet scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame and a single in the fifth to claim the victory.
Meagan Fitzgerald took the loss in six innings giving up three earned runs on six hits and struck out three players.
Allison Zborowski and
Jenny Barnholt finished 1-for-3 and
Julia Lamplugh went 1-for-2 to lead Immaculata.
The Garnet held a 2-0 lead through five innings in the nightcap and would extend its lead 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth.
Immaculata scored its only run of the game in the top of the seventh when
Samantha Strickland doubled to left field scoring
Maleaha Himmons.
Strickland and Nikki Curcione finished 2-for-4 and Himmons picked up two hits for the Mighty Macs.
Curcione pitched a complete game for the loss allowing one hit.
Immaculata hosts Marywood for a key CSAC doubleheader on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m.
