IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata University's softball team picked up a pair of five-inning victories against Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday afternoon. The Mighty Macs took game one, 9-0, and won the nightcap 11-3.
Meagan Fitzgerald (9-5) pitched a three-hit shutout in the opener for the Mighty Macs. She allowed just three hits and struck out seven batters.
The Mighty Macs put up two runs in the first before exploding with four runs in the bottom of the second and four more in the fourth to end the game in five innings.
Holly Schell and
Samantha Strickland were also 2-for-3 from the plate in game one, with two RBI from Strickland.
Dana Bozzetto went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while
Julia Lamplugh and
Maleaha Himmons posted two RBIs each.
In game two, the Mighty Macs jumped out to a 2-0 lead on tacked on three more in the second on Bozzetto's two- RBI single. Curcione led off the third with a double and Immaculata pushed across four unearned runs for the five-inning victory.
Curcione (4-1) earned the win in five innings, allowing just one hit and struck out three batters.
Jenny Barnholt finished 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI and
Holly Schell went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Bozzetto also finished with two RBIs.
Immaculata travels to Swarthmore on Thursday, April 19 for a non-league contest at 3 p.m.
