CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - Immaculata University swept a Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader with Baptist Bible on Friday afternoon. The Mighty Macs earned a 7-1 win in the opener before handing the Defenders a 4-1 loss in the nightcap. The Mighty Macs improved to an overall record of 16-16 and 11-5 in the CSAC.
Baptist Bible opened the first game with a single and held the lead until Immaculata tied the game with a run in the third when
Christiana Donofry's single plated
Beth Anne Kircher and would gain the lead in the fourth plating three more runs.
A Baptist Bible error allowed a pair of runs in the top of the fifth from
Jenny Barnholt and
Dana Bozzetto. Barnholt's single in the sixth scored
Dana Disney to close out the scoring.
Meagan Fitzgerald picked up the win in seven innings and allowed just three hits and struck out four.
In the nightcap, Immaculata struck again early in the first as
Samantha Strickland's sacrifice fly scored
Holly Schell and
Maleaha Himmons scored on an error for the 2-0 lead.
The Defenders added its only run of the game in the third inning to cut the deficit but
Christiana Donofry sealed the win when she tripled to centerfield and later scored on a passed ball.
Holly Schell went 2-for-4 and scored two runs to lead Immaculata. Julia Lamlpugh and
Maleaha Himmons registered one RBI each.
Nikki Curcione earned the win in seven innings, scattering six hits and stuck out four.
Immaculata returns home on Saturday to host Philadelphia Bible in CSAC action at 1 p.m.
