IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata University's softball team earned a split with Cedar Crest College on Tuesday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Mighty Macs claimed a 10-4 win in the opener but the Falcons rallied in the nightcap, 4-1.
Meagan Fitzgerald pitched a six-inning complete game in the opener. She allowed just one run on three hits and struck out nine batters.
The Mighty Macs held a 6-0 lead through three innings and Cedar Crest would add its only run of the game in the top of the fourth. Immaculata put the game out of reach in the bottom of the frame plating four runs and a single in the sixth.
Dana Bozzetto and
Maleaha Himmons finished 3-for-4 at the plate scoring two runs each.
Holly Schell and Sam Strickland also posted three hits and one run each.
In the nightcap, Cedar Crest opened a scoreless game in the fourth with two runs and added two more in the top of the fifth to claim the win.
Dana Bozzetto scored Immaculata's only run of the contest in the top of the sixth.
Samantha Strickland led Immaculata with three hits while
Dana Disney and
Holly Schell finished with two hits.
Danielle Palmisano started in the circle for the Mighty Macs going 3.2 innings. She allowed two earned runs on six hits. Nikki Curcione came in relief and allowed one earned on six hits during 3.1 innings of work.
Immaculata travels to Baptist Bible on Friday, April 13 at 3 p.m.
