ROSEMONT, Pa.- Immaculata's pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts in two shutouts, 15-0 and 10-0, against Rosemont on Friday afternoon, allowing just four hits as the Mighty Macs improved to 10-10 overall and 6-2 in Colonial States Athletic Conference Action.
In the opener,
Danielle Palmisano posted a shutout win in the circle only allowing three hits and struck out eight batters.
The Mighty Macs exploded in the third scoring seven runs and ending the scoring in the fifth totaling eight runs for the victory.
Christiana Donofry led Immaculata at the plate going 3-for-4 scoring two runs and posted two RBIs. Palmisano,
Dana Disney,
Dana Bozzetto,
Samantha Strickland, and
Allison Zborowski posted two hits each in the win.
In the nightcap,
Meagan Fitzgerald earned the win in the circle allowing one hit and struck out 10 batters.
Beth Anne Kircher's single plated Nikki Curcione and would later score on
Brittany Merkle's single to put the Mighty Macs ahead 2-0 in the top of the second.
Immaculata took advantage of Rosemont errors posting a three-run third and fourth before ending the game with two more in the fifth inning.
Curcione and
Jessica DeCastro finished the game going 2-for-4 at the plate as DeCastro plated two runs. Kircher and
Maleaha Himmons went 2-for-3 and posted two RBIs each.
The Mighty Macs host the Neumann Knights on Saturday, March 31 beginning at 1 p.m.
