IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata's softball team earned a split Saturday afternoon against Keystone, taking the first game of its Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader with the Giants, 6-2. The Mighty Macs dropped the second game, 9-6.
In the opener, Immaculata took an early lead with two runs scored and added three more in the second to make the score, 5-0.
Beth Anne Kircher scored on
Holly Schell's single followed by a single from Meagan Fitgerald. Schell later scored on Nikki's Curcione single.
In game two, Keystone had a seven-run third and two more in the fourth that would secure the win for the Giants.
Jenny Barnholt's two-RBI single scored
Holly Schell and
Brittany Merkle put Immaculata on the board in the
fourth. Merkle's RBI single started a four-run sixth for Immaculata that was followed by
Maleaha Himmons's triple that scored three more for the Mighty Macs in the bottom of the sixth but it was not enough to thwart the Giants.
Danielle Palmisano took the loss in 3.0 innings allowing nine runs on 14 hits. Nikki Curcione pitched in relief and only allowed three hits.
Immaculata is back in action on Wednesday hosting Penn State Berks at 3 p.m.
