RADNOR, Pa. - Top-seeded Cabrini College ended sixth-seeded Immaculata University's run in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament in Tuesday night's semifinal contest, 87-68.
Rob Siter, playing in his final collegiate game, led the Mighty Macs with 21 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Nelson Torres added 18 points and four rebounds, while
Brandon Smith chipped in 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Todd Stokley also finished with nine points and four rebounds.
Immaculata (11-16) overcame a five-point halftime deficit (39-34) with an 11-6 run during the first 2:42 of the second half, knotting the score at 45-all at the 17:18 mark. The Mighty Macs then took their first lead since the 16:29 mark of the first half with Torres' layup with 16:17 left in the game, 47-46.
The score was still locked at 48-48 at the 15:29 mark when the Cavaliers used a 15-3 spurt during four minutes to quickly extend their advantage back to double figures, 63-51, with 11:44 remaining in the contest.
Cabrini (25-1) built its lead to 17 before Immaculata was able to cut it to 13 (74-61) with 6:16 left in the game. The Mighty Macs came no closer the rest of the contest as the Cavaliers led by as many as 20 during the final three minutes.
Immaculata led by four (6-2) to start the game, but 15-0 run by the Cavaliers put Cabrini on top, 17-6, by the 12:46 mark. Cabrini still held a double-digit edge midway through the opening half when Immaculata used an 18-8 spurt to come within just one, 31-30, just inside five minutes before halftime.
Cabrini placed four scorers in double digits led by Cory Lemons' 23 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. Fran Rafferty and Jeremy Knowles each finished with 15 points, and Aaron Walton-Moss grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
No. 1-seed Cabrini advances to the CSAC championship game on Friday night where it will host No. 2-seed Keystone, who advanced with its 98-75 win opposite Neumann in the other semifinal.
