IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata University men's basketball team clinched the No. 6 seed in the 2012 Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening with its 69-59 win at Centenary College.

The Mighty Macs (10-15, 8-10 CSAC) earned the final spot in the conference tournament and will travel to Gwynedd Valley, Pa., on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18, to take on the No. 3-seed Gwynedd-Mercy College Griffins (17-8, 12-6 CSAC) at 3 p.m. In the other quarterfinal contest, No. 4 Rosemont College will host No. 5-seed Neumann University also at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Gwynedd-Mercy swept Immaculata in the two regular-season meetings this year. The Griffins' most recently defeated the Mighty Macs on February 4, 80-62. The Mighty Macs lost to the Griffins, 80-71, on January 16 at Alumnae Hall. 

When Immaculata reaches conference tournament play, it has a 5-3 record, and the Immaculata has never lost to Gwynedd-Mercy during the postseason. Immaculata is 3-0 when facing Gwynedd-Mercy in the conference tournament despite a 5-12 mark overall opposite the Griffins. Immaculata's most recent postseason win opposite Gwynedd-Mercy was in the 2010 quarterfinals when the fourth-seed Mighty Macs downed the fifth-seeded Griffins, 87-82.

Gwynedd-Mercy has advanced to the conference tournament during each of the seven seasons Immaculata has had a men's basketball program. The Griffins claimed the second seed last year, losing in the championship game to Cabrini. During the 2009 tournament, the Griffins were the No. 1 seed and captured the league crown and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. 

The winners of Saturday's two quarterfinal contests will travel to either top-seeded Cabrini or second-place finisher Keystone for the CSAC semifinals on Tuesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. The Colonial States Athletic Conference championship game will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, at the highest remaining seed. The winner of that championship game receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
