Women's Basketball Falls Against Ursinus, 66-52

IMMACULATA, Pa.
– Despite outscoring Ursinus during the second half (29-28), Immaculata University's women's basketball squad dropped a non-league contest Wednesday night, 66-52, to the visiting Bears at Alumnae Hall.
 
Immaculata (4-6) was paced by 13 points and four assists from Chrissy Esbensen. Esbensen went 3-for-5 from three-point range. Sara Smith also reached double digits with 12 points and seven rebounds. Jackie Deegler led the Mighty Macs on the glass with eight rebounds and eight points.
 
Deegler scored on a layup for the first basket of the contest. However, Ursinus hit a three on its next possession to take the lead, 3-2, at the 19:16 mark. The Bears would lead the rest of the way, and took their largest lead of the first half, 38-23, into the locker room at the break.
 
Ursinus (6-4) was ahead by its largest advantage of the contest (54-35) with 11:13 remaining in the game. Immaculata then went on a 17-6 run to bring the game within eight, 60-52, with just over two minutes to play. The Bears closed out the game with a layup and 4 of 6 from the free throw line for the win.
 
Ursinus placed four of its starters in double figures, led by a double-double effort from Jessica Porada with a game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds. Diamond Lewis finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.
 
Immaculata heads to the ECAC Holiday Invitational on Dec. 28-29 in Kissimmee, Fla. The Mighty Macs' first contest will be that Friday at 5 p.m. against Ramapo.
