Men's Basketball Falls Short At Cabrini, 81-74

RADNOR, Pa. – Immaculata University suffered an 81-74 loss on the road at Cabrini on Wednesday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action as the Mighty Macs' rally during the final six minutes of the contest proved too late.
 
Rob Siter poured in a game-best 23 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and four blocks for Immaculata (5-13, 3-8 CSAC). Nelson Torres chipped in 18 points and T.J. Klinger added 10 points.
 
Trailing 68-52 with 6:30 left in the game, Torres had four straight points to begin a 9-0 run for the Mighty Macs that was capped by a three-pointer from Klinger to put Immaculata down by just seven, 68-61, with 5:13 remaining in the game. After Goran Dulac sunk a free throw, Klinger again came down the court and hit a trey, bringing the Mighty Macs within five, 69-64.
 
John Boyd connected on a free throw for Cabrini, but Klinger answered once again for Immaculata with a layup and Siter responded on the Mighty Macs' next trip with a jumper, putting Immaculata within 70-68 with 3:19 left.
 
The squads then traded buckets, but after Siter converted on a three-point play to make the score 72-71, Cabrini scored four quick points and never let the lead slip away.
 
Cabrini got off to a fast start, leading 10-1 less than five minutes into the contest, and the Cavaliers held an eight-point edge midway through the opening half, 20-12. Immaculata then made its run (13-4) to jump in front of Cabrini, 25-24, with 6:33 remaining in the stanza. Siter had six and Torres had five of Immaculata's points during the spurt.
 
The Mighty Macs' advantage was short-lived as Dulac hit a three to spark a 7-0 run for the Cavaliers as they regained a 31-25 lead with 4:02 left before the break. Back-to-back layups from Siter brought Immaculata within two, 31-29, with 3:12 on the clock, but a 10-2 run for Cabrini gave the hosts a double-digit lead with 28 seconds remaining. Smith knocked down a free throw with 16 ticks left as Immaculata trailed 41-32 at intermission.
 
The Cavaliers had another fast start in the second half, extending their lead to 55-36 on a 14-4 run during the first 3:02 of the stanza. Cabrini continued to control the contest until Immaculata made a run with six minutes left in the game.
 
Cabrini (17-1, 12-0 CSAC) was paced by 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists from Cory Lemons. Dulac and Boyd each finished with 13 points.
