GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- Immaculata University softball concluded its regular season with a sweep of Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday afternoon in CSAC action. The Mighty Macs won the first game, 2-0 before taking the second game, 11-6.
Meagan Fitzgerald went the distance in the circle only allowing two hits while striking out six batters.
Julia Lamplugh had a two-run triple in the fifth inning scoring Dana Bozzetto and Holly Schell.
In the night cap, the Mighty Macs scored nine runs on nine hits in the third inning. Mindy Monastra and Sara Holleran went 2-for-4 scoring one run each. Zborowski also tallied a game-high three RBI's while Monastra finished with two RBI's. Lamplugh and Nikki Curcione both added two runs in the victory.
Danielle Palmisano earned the win in the circle allowing six runs on six hits in five innings. Curcione pitched the final two innings not allowing any hits. She also struck two batters.
The Griffins scored all of six of its runs in the third inning but Immaculata knocked in two runs in the seventh when Zborowski singled scoring Sara Holleran and Jenny Barnholt to seal the win.
Immaculata finished the regular season with an overall record of 20-10 and 17-5 in the CSAC while Gwynedd-Mercy finished the season 10-21 and 8-14 in the conference.
Immaculata begins play in the CSAC tournament on Wednesday, May 4 in quarterfinal action.
