Mighty Macs Sweep PBU With Two Shutouts

Immaculata University softball blanked host Philadelphia Bible twice Tuesday afternoon as the Mighty Macs swept a CSAC doubleheader from the Crimson Eagles, with a score of 8-0 in the opener and a final score of 11-0 in the nightcap.

Immaculata (16-10, 13-5 CSAC) scored two runs in the first inning of game one, added four more in the second and posted two in the fourth to shorten the contest to five innings. Holly Schell went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored. Dana Bozzetto and Mindy Monastra both finished with two RBI while Monastra added one run. Sara Holleran and Megan Gallagher knocked in two runs each in the victory.

Danielle Palmisano tossed a three-hitter while going the distance for the win. She struck out seven and walked two batters.

In the nightcap, the Mighty Macs took an early lead again scoring three runs in the first, including a homerun from Julia Lamplugh. Katherine Schreck scored three runs to lead Immaculata to a five-inning win while a six-run second inning did most of the damage for the Mighty Macs.

Allison Zborowski, Schell, and Lamplugh were all 2-for-3, knocking in a combined five runs in the night cap. Lamplugh also finished with a team-high five RBI.

The Mighty Macs tallied two more in the third and a single run in the fourth from Julie Connor to round out the scoring.

Zborowski (4-0) went the distance striking out three batters. She came within one out of a no-hitter but Philadelphia Bible's Cynthia Salgado singled to right field in the fifth inning.

Immaculata plays its final regular-season game on Friday at 3 p.m. when it hosts College of Notre Dame. The doubleheader will mark “Senior Day” for the women's softball program.
