IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata swept Cabrini in a CSAC softball doubleheader on Monday afternoon. The Mighty Macs defeated the Cavaliers, 5-1 and 5-3, respectively.
After Cabrini (8-18, 7-9 CSAC) ran out to a 3-0 lead in the nightcap, Immaculata (14-10, 11-5 CSAC) scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the sixth for a solid comeback and held on for the 5-3 win.
Nikki Curcione (3-0) earned the win in the circle surrendering six hits while striking out four batters.
Meagan Fitzgerald earned the save, pitching the final inning. She struck out two batters.
Mindy Monastra and
Julia Lamplugh both went 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI each to lead the Mighty Macs.
Holly Schell,
Dana Bozzetto, and
Danielle Palmisano each knocked in a run in the winning effort.
In the opener, the Mighty Macs scored three runs in the second inning staking the early lead. Mindy Monastra added another run in the third but Cabrini answered scoring an unearned run in the fourth to cut the margin, 4-1.
Immaculata added one more insurance run in the fifth as
Allison Zborowski plated
Megan Gallagher. Zborowski led the Mighty Macs at the plate going 2-for-3 with one run scored and two RBI.
Jenny Barnholt also finished with two RBI and one run scored.
Fitzgerald (3-5) went the distance only allowing four hits in the victory. She walked three and struck out six batters.
Immaculata returns to play on Tuesday traveling to Philadelphia Bible for a CSAC doubleheader at 3 p.m.
