IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata's softball team earned a split Monday afternoon against Marywood, taking the second game of its Colonial States Athletic Conference doubleheader with the Pacers, 4-3. The Mighty Macs dropped the opener, 8-1.
In the opener, Marywood (17-11, 13-5) took the lead early in third with one run scored and added six more in the fourth to make the score, 7-0.
Immaculata (12-8, 9-3 CSAC) scored its only run in the fifth from
Julia Lamplugh on an RBI single from short stop,
Holly Schell. Lamplugh and Schell each had two hits for the Mighty Macs.
Megan Fitzgerald (3-4) went three innings and took the loss in the circle. She allowed seven runs on ten hits, walked one batter, and struck out three. Nikki Curcione came in to pitch the final two innings only allowing one run.
Immaculata came out strong in the nightcap, scoring four runs in the top half of the first inning.
Holly Schell and
Dana Bozzetto each singled to begin the game and Schell scored on
Danielle Palmisano's RBI double. Palmisano later scored followed by Bozzetto when Mindy Monastra singled to center field. The Mighty Macs scored the final run of the inning when
Sara Holleran singled to left field scoring Monastra.
Danielle Palmisano (5-3) pitched a complete game for the win. She allowed just five hits and one earned run. Kaitlyn Brennan (4-4) took the loss for the Pacers giving up three earned runs in seven innings.
Immaculata returns to its home field on Wednesday hosting Baptist Bible College for a 3 p.m. start against the Defenders.
