IMMACULATA, Pa.- The
Immaculata University softball team claimed its fifth straight victory and improved to an 11-7 overall record and 8-2 in the CSAC by sweeping Rosemont College in a conference doubleheader, 10-0 and 24-1.
The Mighty Macs scored nine runs in the first inning of game one and a single tally in the second to shorten the contest to five innings.
Holly Schell and
Sara Holleran went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored each while
Dana Bozzetto also knocked in two runs.
Danielle Palmisano tallied a single run and a team-high four RBI.
Nikki Curcione (1-1) pitched a gem for the Mighty Macs only allowing one hit in five innings.
In the nightcap, Immaculata posted three five-run frames in the first three innings and added nine in the fourth to run away with second game. Rosemont (0-14) got on the scoreboard when it scored its only run in the fourth inning.
The Mighty Macs collected a total of 25 hits in game two. Schell went 4-for-5 with four runs scored while
Allison Zborowski went a perfect 4-for-4 with a team-high five RBI.
Julie Connor finished game two 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.
Katherine Schreck collected in four runs while Palmisano and
Jenny Barnholt tallied three hits and three runs each in the victory.
Zborowski (1-1) got the win in the circle for Immaculata only surrendering one earned run on two hits.
The Mighty Macs are back in action tomorrow hosting Ursinus for a non-conference doubleheader at 3 p.m.
