Malabet Hits Buzzer Beater For Win, 62-60

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Darnell Malabet hit a jumper from just inside the three-point arc as time expired to lift the host Mighty Macs to a 62-60 win over the visiting Ravens of Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action.

Immaculata improves to 9-11 overall and 7-6 in the CSAC, while Rosemont slips to 6-13, 4-8 in the league.

Rosemont tied the game at 60-all with 1:10 left in regulation when Harrison Carsillo made a jumper. Immaculata had the chance to pull ahead with 49.2 seconds left when Nelson Torres was sent to the foul line, but he came up empty.

Dan Kearney attempted a jumper for the Ravens with 34 seconds to play but Brandon Smith came down with the rebound for the Mighty Macs. Immaculata got the ball to mid-court and called timeout to set up its final play. As the clock was winding down, Malabet put up the shot and it went through the hoop as the buzzer went off for the Immaculata victory.

Malabet led Immaculata scorers with 21 points on 5-for-7 three-point shooting and had three assists. Torres finished with 15 points, three assists and two blocked shots. Raheem Roher chipped in six points, and Todd Stokley added five points and two blocks. Smith was Immaculata's leading rebounder with 12 grabs, and Mark Davenport had five rebounds.

After a back-and-forth beginning to the contest, Immaculata had built a 15-point lead (35-20) with 25 seconds left in the opening stanza after going on a 15-3 run over 4:52. The Ravens, however, closed the half with five straight points during the final seven seconds, trimming the Mighty Macs' halftime lead to 35-25.

Rosemont got within four, 43-39, by the 13:50 mark of the second half after Tremell Green score eight points during a 14-8 Ravens spurt. Immaculata extended the lead back to eight twice, the last coming with 7:46 to play in the game, 56-48. The Ravens quickly got within two (56-54) with 4:02 left on a 6-0 run, and the Mighty Macs were unable to shake them until the final horn.

Green led all scorers with 25 points and seven rebounds for Rosemont. Justin Chaney added 16 points and three assists while Carsillo registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Immaculata returns to action on Monday night at 8 p.m. when it hosts Neumann University. Both teams enter the contest with 7-6 CSAC marks and tied for fourth place in the league standings.
