Men's Basketball Ends Season In CSAC Quarterfinals

LA PLUME, Pa.
– Immaculata University saw its men's basketball season come to a conclusion on Saturday afternoon in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals with an 84-62 loss to Keystone College.

The third-seeded Giants (21-5) advance to the semifinals where they will travel to No. 2 seed Gwynedd-Mercy College on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The sixth-seeded Mighty Macs end the 2010-11 season with a 10-16 overall record.

Immaculata's Rob Siter posted a game-high 20 points and added five rebounds and two assists while Brandon Smith poured in 18 points and four rebounds. The Mighty Macs were led on the glass by Darnell Malabet's 10 rebounds and he added six points. T.J. Klinger also had six points and Phillip Ogunleye recorded eight points.

Keystone held the lead throughout the entire contest as Kenneth Hardnett scored the first four points of the game for the Giants. The Giants had pushed their advance to eight (19-11) with 9:40 remaining in the first half when Malabet hit a three and Ogunleye put one in for the Mighty Macs, cutting the deficit to 19-16.

Immaculata still trailed by three (22-19) with 6:19 to play in the stanza but the Mighty Macs went quiet until the 1:32 mark while Keystone scored 13 straight points for a 35-19 lead. Immaculata would trail 39-23 at the half.

Keystone continued to extend its lead in the second half, and Immaculata got no closer than 14 (52-38) at the 12:53 mark.

The Mighty Macs finished the game 23-for-30 (.767) from the foul line while the Giants were just 9 of 17 (.529).

Tercel Taylor led Keystone with 17 points, and Hardnett registered a double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds.
