Men's Basketball Secures Playoff Spot With 80-72 Win

LANGHORNE, Pa.
- The Immaculata University men's basketball team clinched the sixth seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday night with its 80-72 defeat of Philadelphia Biblical University in the final regular-season conference game.

Immaculata enters the CSAC Tournament with a 10-15 overall and 8-10 CSAC mark. Philadelphia Biblical falls to 0-24 overall, 0-18 in the CSAC with the loss. The Mighty Macs travel to third-seeded Keystone College on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. for quarterfinal action in the 2011 conference tournament.  

Rob Siter led the Mighty Macs, pouring in a game-high 25 points and adding nine rebounds. Nelson Torres also chipped in 19 points and five rebounds while Brandon Smith finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Darnell Malabet also finished in double figures with 10 points.

Immaculata and Philadelphia Biblical played a back-and-forth affair for much of the game before the Mighty Macs were able to pull away during the closing minutes of the second half.

The Crimson Eagles led by as many as nine (23-14) at the 9:58 mark of the first half, but the Mighty Macs finished the opening stanza on a 22-8 run to lead 36-31 at the break.

Philadelphia Biblical began the second half on a 10-2 spurt to take a 41-38 lead just three minutes into the stanza. However, Malabet knocked down a three-pointer to tie the score at 41-all at the 16:52 mark, and the visiting Mighty Macs would not trail again.

The Crimson Eagles hung around and cut the Mighty Macs' lead to 63-60 with 6:02 remaining in the game. But, Immaculata put together a 9-2 run fueled by Siter's six point to take the contest's first double-digit advantage.

Claude Chalk registered a double-double for Philadelphia Biblical with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Adam Derus also had 17 points and four assists for the Crimson Eagles.
