Mighty Mac Men Come Up Short Against Gwynedd-Mercy, 77-69

IMMACULATA, Pa.
– Immaculata University men's basketball was defeated by Gwynedd- Mercy, 77-69, on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference play. 

With the loss, the Mighty Macs fall to 9-14 overall and 7-9 in the league. The Griffins improve to 18-5 on the season and 13-3 in the CSAC. 

Immaculata placed three players in double figures led by Brandon Smith whom tallied 19 points and eight rebounds. Rob Siter finished with 16 points and Darnell Malabet registered 10 points in the losing effort. 

The first half proved to be a seesaw battle leaving Immaculata clinging to a 34-31 lead at the half. Gwynedd-Mercy answered in the second half taking an 39-38 lead at the 16:11 mark and never trailed again in the game. Immaculata kept it close trailing by just two, 62-60 with just 3:11 left, but Gwynedd Mercy finished strong at the foul line to finish off a road victory. 

The victorious Griffins placed three players in double figures. Dan DelConte led the way with 19 points. Jon Hogga registered a double-double with 16 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Jon Crabtree rounded out the group with 13 points and nine rebounds. 

Immaculata travels to Keystone College on Monday evening at 8 p.m. in CSAC play.
