Men's Basketball Slips 83-75 At Keystone

Nelson Torres poured in 24 points but it was not enough for visiting Immaculata University to defeat Keystone College in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Wednesday night, as the host Giants defeated the Mighty Macs, 83-75.
 
Keystone moved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the CSAC while Immaculata falls to 3-5, 2-3 CSAC.
 
Torres led the squad not only with his 24 points but also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Jarrell Gardner scored 15 points and had seven rebounds while Kendall Peters was the other Mighty Mac scorer in double figures with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists. T.J. Klinger also chipped in nine points and six rebounds.
 
The first seven minutes of the contest saw five ties and three lead changes, but Keystone finally pulled ahead, 18-15, at the 12:21 mark of the first half. The Giants took their first double-figure advantage with 5:36 remaining in the opening half, 34-24, but the Mighty Macs were able to go into halftime trailing by just nine, 43-34.
 
Keystone started the second half on an 8-2 run to gain its largest lead of the night, 51-36. However, Immaculata went on a 15-2 run during 4:01 to come within two of Keystone, 53-51, with 11:25 to play in the game. Torres had six points during the run while Peters had the first five points, and Klinger also added three.
 
Immaculata was not able to chip away at the lead any further, and Keystone built its advantage back to 15 points, 82-67, just inside one minute left in the contest. Immaculata finished the contest on an 8-1 spurt to make the final score, 83-75.
 
Keystone was led by Kenneth Hardnett's game-high 26 points and 16 rebounds. Malcolm Boone finished with 15 points and seven rebounds for the Giants. As a team, Keystone was 9 of 32 from three-point range.
 
Immaculata is off until Dec. 17 when it travels to The College of New Jersey at 7 p.m.
