IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata placed five players in double figures in scoring as the Mighty Macs defeated Centenary College, 97-82, in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon inside Alumnae Hall.
Immaculata improved to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the CSAC with the win. Centenary dips to 3-4, 1-2 CSAC.
Todd Stokley led the Immaculata quintet with a career-best 26 points as he was 11 of 14 from the field with three three-pointers, and finished with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Kendall Peters also racked up a career high for points with 17 and had seven rebounds.
Rob Siter finished with 16 points and eight assists,
Nelson Torres had 15 points and four steals, and
Jarrell Gardner added 12 points and five assists.
Immaculata never trailed in the game, even though Centenary tied the game twice during the opening five minutes. The final tied scored (8-8) came at the 15:31 mark of the first half, but the Mighty Macs went on a 16-5 run during the next four minutes to open up an 11-point advantage. Centenary would cut Immaculata's lead to eight three times, the last with 8:29 remaining in the half, 28-20.
A three pointer by Gardner put the Immaculata lead back into double figures, 31-20, with 8:13 left in the first stanza, and the Mighty Macs kept a double-digit advantage the rest of the way. Immaculata led by as many as 17 (39-22) during the first half with just over five minutes left before heading into halftime leading, 46-35.
Immaculata's largest lead in the contest was 19 points, which the Mighty Macs reached three times during the second half. The final time Immaculata went ahead by 19 (81-62) was with 6:52 left in the contest. Centenary then went on a 12-4 run to cut the lead to 85-74 with 3:38 remaining. However, the Cyclones were not able to trim the Mighty Macs' lead any further.
The Mighty Macs' 97 points were a season-high, and it marked the most points scored by Immaculata since January 14, 2010 when it posted 98 points in a win against Marywood. Immaculata was 34-for-59 (.576) from the field and 9 of 14 (.643) from beyond the arc. Centenary shot 52.7 percent (29-55) from the field, including eight three's.
Centenary also had five players in double figures in scoring. Larry Lenahan recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Max Hughes led the Cyclones with 15 points.
Immaculata plays it final league game before the new year on Wednesday, Dec. 7, as it heads to Keystone at 7 p.m.
