Immaculata Falls To Bethany

NASSAU, BAHAMAS. - Immaculata University's women's basketball team was defeated in its final game of the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout on Tuesday afternoon by Bethany College, 76-54.

The Mighty Macs now sit at 6-5 overall and the Bison improved to 7-4 overall.  

Immaculata was led by Chrissy Esbensen's 18 points and Kelly Brown added 10 points. Sara Smith brought down a team-leading 12 rebounds. Bridget Welz had nine points, while Jackie Deegler finished with eight rebounds.
 
The Mighty Macs trailed by nine at the break, 28-19, but the Bison used six three's and a 17 of 37 effort from the field during the second half to pull away.  
 
Bethany had four players reach double figures, led by Anne Wilson's 15 points, and Kayla Taormina totaled 13 points. As a team, Bethany was 9 of 26 from three-point range.
 
Immaculata's Esbensen and Bethany's Renee Shepherd were named to the all-tournament team.
 
Immaculata returns from the holiday break playing in front of the home crowd at Alumnae Hall on Thursday evening, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m. when it takes on non-conference opponent Lebanon Valley.
