MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Immaculata University's men's basketball team closed out the 2011 portion of its schedule with a 104-64 loss to Montclair State University on Tuesday night in non-conference play at the Panzer Athletic Center.
Immaculata (3-7) had three players reach double figures in scoring, led by 18 points from
Nelson Torres.
Rob Siter had 16 points and led the squad with four steals, and
Todd Stokley had 11 points and a team-leading five rebounds.
After being tied at 8-all at the 14:46 mark of the first half, Montclair State began to pull away from Immaculata. The Red Hawks used a 13-2 run to take a 21-10 lead with 10:40 remaining in the first half. Montclair State continued to extend its lead, eventually taking a 48-24 lead into the intermission.
The Red Hawks (9-3) were paced by Ordel Goldson's 21 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and three steals to lead five players in double-digit scoring.
Montclair State's three-point shooting was one of its keys to victory as the Red Hawks were 11 of 18 from beyond the arc. The Mighty Macs did not connect on a three during the contest.
Immaculata begins the new year at the Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament hosted by Lycoming on Monday, Jan. 2 playing Mount Union at 8 p.m.
