Rosemont Tops Men's Basketball In Overtime, 64-61

ROSEMONT, Pa.
– Immaculata University's men's basketball squad fell 64-61 in overtime to Rosemont College on Wednesday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference action. The Ravens tied the score at 53-all with 34 seconds left in regulation as Justin Chaney sunk a three-pointer, and the two squads headed into overtime.
 
Immaculata moves to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play while Rosemont is now 2-3, 1-2 in the CSAC.  
 
Kendall Peters paced the Mighty Macs with 16 points. Rob Siter had 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Jeffone Hill was the other Immaculata player in double figures with 11 points. T.J. Klinger had nine points and four steals during the contest.
 
Rosemont started the overtime frame with another three from Chaney for the early 56-53 lead. Siter answered for the Mighty Macs with a jumper just inside the arc to trail by one, 56-55. However, the Ravens hit a jumper to push the lead to 58-55 with 3:45 to play. Peters cut the Mighty Macs' deficit back to one, 58-57, with 3:14 left after making both of his free throw attempts.
 
Rosemont then drove across the lane for a layup to extend its advantage back to three, 60-57. Peters went back to the line with 2:02 to play and again connected on both shots to put the Mighty Macs within one, 60-59.Rosemont's Harrison Carsillo had a layup with 1:33 remaining to hand the Ravens a 62-59 lead.
 
Kiwan Murray went 1-for-2 from the free throw line to push Rosemont's lead to 63-59 with 34.7 seconds left in overtime. Immaculata's Hill drove in for a layup with 30.5 seconds and was fouled on the play, but was unable to convert on the three-point play, as Immaculata trailed 63-61.
 
Rosemont iced the contest with 2.2 seconds remaining as Dan Kearney was 1 of 2 from the charity stripe.
 
Chaney and Theodore Thompson each had 13 points to lead Rosemont. Castillo finished with seven points and a team-leading seven rebounds.
 
Immaculata returns home on Saturday hosting Centenary at 1 p.m. in what will be the Mighty Macs' final home contest of the 2011 portion of the schedule.
