Immaculata Women Top Cabrini, 65-56

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Immaculata University defeated Cabrini College, 65-56, on Thursday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball play at Alumnae Hall.

Chelsea McTigue paced the Mighty Macs with 14 points and five rebounds. She was one of four Mighty Macs in double figures. Chrissy Esbensen also chipped in 14 points. Leah Kuczynski recorded a double-double for Immaculata registering 12 points to go along with a team-high 10 rebounds. Kelly Brown was the final Mighty Mac in double figures with 10 points.

The Mighty Macs (9-5, 4-1 CSAC) jumped out to a quick 16-4 lead over the Cavaliers (4-10, 3-3 CSAC) halfway through the first half, and held a 29-17 advantage going into halftime.

Immaculata never trailed in the game, as Cabrini would never get closer than five points the entire second half. The Cavaliers got within 38-33 with 14:30 left in the game thanks to a pair of free throws from Colleen Stewart. Immaculata's Rachel Denis answered immediately with a three pointer to increase the Macs' lead back to eight.

As the game neared the two-minute mark, Immaculata's lead was trimmed to 60-54. However, the Mighty Macs sealed the deal with four key foul shots in the last two minutes.

The Cavaliers placed three players in double figures. Brittany Sandone led the way with 15 points. Stewart chipped in 12, and Annie Rivituso finished with 10 points in the losing effort.

Immaculata hosts Philadelphia Biblical University on Saturday at 1 p.m. in CSAC action.
