Mighty Macs Drop 68-62 Decision Against Alvernia

IMMACULATA, Pa.
-  Immaculata University fell to Alvernia, 68-62, on Monday night in non-conference women's basketball action.

Chelsea McTigue paced the Mighty Macs with 20 points and added six rebounds, while Chrissy Esbensen contributed 10 points and six assists.

The teams battled back and forth as the score tied seven times in the first half. Alvernia held the largest lead of the first half, six points, with less than four minutes left but Immaculata rallied to tie the game at halftime, 36-36.

The teams would remain tight in the second half but Alvernia held its largest lead of the night, an eight point lead with 11:54 to go.  Immaculata pulled within one, 56-55, when Rachel Denis drained a 3 pointer with 6 minutes left before Alvernia took the final lead to win the game.

Angela Altemose led the Crusaders with 28 points and 11 rebounds while Julie Hahn collected 14 points and four steals.

Immaculata returns to conference action on Thursday, Jan. 20. hosting Cabrini at 6 p.m.
