Cabrini Hands Volleyball 3-0 Loss

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Immaculata University came up empty on Thursday night in its Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball match against Cabrini, 3-0. Despite being in every set, the Mighty Macs couldn't find the answer to the Cavaliers, who won by sets of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-22.

Immaculata slips to 2-13 overall and 0-3 in the CSAC. Cabrini stays perfect at 4-0 in the conference and 12-4 overall.

Jessica Egan led the Mighty Macs with eight kills while Allison Lang contributed seven. Tamara Dabady and Nicole Preziuso each dropped five kills, and Preziuso added 11 digs. Kathleen Haefner amassed 19 assists on 30 team kills. Courtney Sahm led the defense with 14 digs.

Cabrini's Megan Ryan totaled a match-best 10 kills, and Alaina Clark made 27 assists. The Cavaliers had three players in double figures in digs, led by Courtney Abel's 14.

In the opening set, Cabrini would get out to a small lead, but Immaculata was able to chip its way back in to tie the score. Deadlocked at 12-all, the Cavaliers scored five straight points to lead 17-12. Immaculata called a well-planned timeout at that point, and the Mighty Macs responded with five consecutive points to even the match at 17-17. Cabrini again pulled out in front, and this time Immaculata was unable to catch up.

Immaculata and Cabrini played the second set tight until the midway point, as the Cavaliers had just a 12-11 edge. Cabrini began to rally and Immaculata was unable to stop the Cavaliers down the stretch.

The Mighty Macs trailed 12-7 in the third set when Immaculata turned on the pressure by winning eight of the next 10 points to flip the lead to 15-14 Immaculata. Preziuso served five straight points during the 10-point run, in which she had two service aces and two kills. The Mighty Macs still held a one-point advantage (18-17), but Cabrini scored three straight points and held on for the win.

Immaculata travels to Rosemont on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a CSAC match with the Ravens.
