IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University swept its final regular-season doubleheader against Philadelphia Biblical University on Saturday afternoon. The Mighty Macs came back to take game one, 9-8, and won the nightcap, 12-8.

Immaculata heads into the conference postseason with a 17-15 overall and 14-8 CSAC record. Philadelphia Biblical saw its season end with an 11-25 overall and 8-14 conference mark.

In the opener, Philadelphia Biblical drove in two runs in the top of the first to jump out to the early lead. However, when the Mighty Macs came to the plate in the bottom half of the inning, they scored three runs to take the 3-2 lead.

Carol Mastrosante hit a two-RBI double to right center that scored both Jackie Finkbohner and Sara Holleran, who had walked earlier in the inning. Julia Lamplugh then hit a single down the right field line that plated Mastrosante.

Immaculata held Philadelphia Biblical to only one hit during the next four innings, while the Mighty Macs scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead 5-2. Mastrosante singled through the right side, and Lamplugh doubled into left center. Nikki Curcione hit a sac fly to left that Mastrosante was able to score on, and Holly Schell hit a RBI doubled to left field that scored Lamplugh.

The Crimson Eagles refused to go down without a fight, scoring six runs in the top of the seventh to overtake the Mighty Macs, 8-5.

Determined to win, Immaculata led off the seventh with a Mastrosante single, and Lamplugh homered over the left field fence to quickly get two runs back for the Mighty Macs. Schell then doubled, and Allison Zborowski and Finkbohner followed with walks to load the bases. Schell and Zborowski scored the tying and winning runs, respectively, on wild pitches.

Mastrosante went 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the opener. Lamplugh was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Curcione pitched the seven-inning complete game, allowing four earned runs and nine hits, getting the win for Immaculata.

Kim Martin took the loss in the circle for the Crimson Eagles, lasting 6.1 innings and giving up all nine runs on 11 hits and seven walks.

In the nightcap, Philadelphia Biblical put up two runs in the first, and Immaculata responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Immaculata scored three more runs in the second, and led 6-2 heading into the top of the third. The Mighty Macs had back-to-back doubles from Mindy Monastra and Holleran to score all three of its runs on those two hits.

The Crimson Eagles tied the game at 6-all with four runs in the top of the third, and went ahead 8-6 after plating two runners in the fourth.

The Mighty Macs made the score 8-7 after scoring one run in the bottom of the fourth as Zborwoski doubled to score Mastrosante.

Immaculata retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth after a four-run inning. The Mighty Macs scored four runs on just one hit and had six batters walk. Immaculata added one more run in the sixth for insurance.

Monastra picked up two hits, two RBI and scored three times. Schell, Holleran, Mastrosante and Zborowski had Immaculata's only other hits in the game.

Zborowski got the win in the circle for Immaculata. She pitched seven innings, allowing just one earned run on nine hits. Molly Wilson pitched 3.1 innings in middle relief for the Crimson Eagles, taking the loss after giving up five runs on two hits and walking eight.

Immaculata, which earned the fifth seed in the CSAC Tournament, travels to fourth-seeded Marywood on Wednesday for quarterfinal single-game at 3 p.m.
