Softball Falls In Doubleheader At Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Immaculata University dropped a non-league doubleheader at Ursinus College on Monday afternoon, falling 5-1 in the opener and 6-0 in the nightcap.

Immaculata is now 10-12 overall while Ursinus improves to 23-3.

The Mighty Macs loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the first inning of game one. Julia Lamplugh then walked to give Immaculata a short-lived 1-0 lead. Ursinus scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings.

Sara Holleran and Lamplugh recorded the only two hits of game one for the Mighty Macs. Jennilyn Weber tossed a complete-game two-hitter to pick up the win for the Bears. Nikki Curcione suffered the loss going the distance as well. She surrendered five runs, only three of which were earned, walked one, struck out three and scattered nine hits.

Ursinus' Lauren Macedonia-Davis pitched a no-hitter in the nightcap, striking out 11 Immaculata batters. The Bears scored twice in the first and three times in the second en route to a 6-0 win to complete the sweep.

Allison Zborowski suffered the loss. She allowed six runs, only two of which were earned, on nine hits. She walked four and struck out two.

Immaculata travels to Swarthmore on Tuesday for another non-league doubleheader.
