HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Immaculata University softball team was swept by Centenary College in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Cyclones took game one, 8-3, and Centenary won game two in the final inning, 5-4.
Immaculata now sits at 5-10 overall and 5-5 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Centenary is now 14-8 overall and 5-3 in the league.
In game one, Centenary had built a 6-0 lead after five innings. Immaculata struck for three runs in the top of the sixth as the Mighty Macs loaded the bases on a walk and two singles. Nikki Curcione came to the plate and belted a double that scored all three runners.
The Cyclones tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth for the final margin.
Allison Zborowski suffered the loss in the circle for Immaculata. She gave up 11 hits and seven earned runs. Centenary's Kristin Durburow pitched all seven innings for the win, scattering three hits and striking out nine.
In the nightcap, the Cyclones put up two runs in the bottom of the first, but the Mighty Macs were able to even the score at 2-all after scoring two runs of their own in the top-half of the third.

Jackie Finkbohner has back-to-back singles and Mindy Monastra followed them with a double that both were able to score on.
Centenary added solo runs in the bottom of the third and fourth, and Immaculata trailed 4-2 heading into the top of the fifth inning. The Mighty Macs were able to tie the game at 4-all after plating two runners in the their half of the fifth. Finkbohner led off the inning with a double, and scored on the next batter as Monastra hit a RBI single. Monastra, representing the tying run, scored on
Katherine Schreck's RBI double.
Each team put up zeros in the sixth, and Immaculata left two runners on base in the top half of the seventh, leaving the game tied at 4-all.
Centenary began the bottom of the seventh inning with Cara Montferrat reaching on an error, and she was able to reach third on a sacrifice bunt by Ali Knapp. After two walks loaded the bases, Danielle Dundas drove the ball into left field, and Montferrat scored the winning run for the Cyclones.
Monastra finished game two 3-for-4 with three RBI, and Finkbohner also had two hits and scored two runs.
Curcione pitched 6.1 innings for the Mighty Macs in the loss. She allowed 10 hits that produced five runs.
Sarah Olsen pitched the first 4.1 innings for Centenary, giving up four runs on nine hits. Knapp pitched the final 2.2 innings to earn the win.
Immaculata hosts Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
