Immaculata Men Set To Host Gwynedd-Mercy In CSAC Quarterfinals Monday

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata University men's basketball team clinched the No. 4 seed in the 2010 Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Mighty Macs (14-11, 12-6 CSAC) earned the right to host a quarterfinal game at Alumnae Hall with the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 seed Gwynedd-Mercy (13-12, 12-6) on Monday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. In other quarterfinal action, No. 3 Neumann will host No. 6-seed Centenary at 7 p.m. Monday.

Immaculata and Gwynedd-Mercy split the two regular season meetings this year, with each squad winning on its home court. The Mighty Macs defeated the Griffins 66-60 on February 5 at Alumnae Hall, and the Griffins 81-73 on January 21 at the Griffin Complex.

Immaculata is undefeated at home in the conference tournament at 3-0, and Immaculata has never lost to Gwynedd-Mercy when facing the Griffins in the postseason, holding a 2-0 advantage. The Mighty Macs defeated the Griffins on the road during the 2007 tournament to advance to the championship, and Immaculata captured its first conference title with its victory over Gwynedd-Mercy in the 2008 championship game.

Tickets for the Colonial States Athletic Conference Quarterfinal can be purchased at the door to the Alumnae Hall gymnasium for $5. Immaculata University students get in free with a valid student ID.

The Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship Game will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, at the highest remaining seed. The winner of that championship game receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
