ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's basketball team fell to host Neumann University, 70-67, Thursday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
Immaculata (14-11, 12-6 CSAC) was paced by John Boyd's 21 points and six rebounds. Nelson Torres added 14 points while Robert Siter chipped in 10.
The Mighty Macs trailed by seven points, 65-58, with 1:35 left in the contest when Siter hit a jumper and Boyd sunk a three to pull Immaculata with two (65-63) with 44 second remaining.
The Mighty Macs were then forced to foul as the Knights converted on three of their first four shots at the line to hold a 68-65 advantage with just 16 seconds left. Boyd drove down the middle of the court and went inside for a layup with eight seconds on the clock to bring Immaculata within one (68-67). However, Na'Sheed Linton buried two free throws with 2.5 seconds left on the clock, and Boyd's half-court shot at the buzzer rimmed out.
Neumann (14-10, 12-5) finished with three scorers in double figures, led by Linton and Marquise Boggs' 16 points apiece. Mike Walukiewicz added 10 for the Knights.
Immaculata has clinched a spot in the CSAC Tournament and now awaits its seeding. Quarterfinal action of the tournament begins on Monday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
