ROSEMONT, Pa. – Immaculata placed four players in double figures as the Mighty Macs' men's basketball team defeated host Rosemont, 84-64, on Monday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
Immaculata improves to 14-10 overall and 12-5 in the CSAC while Rosemont falls to 5-19 overall and 3-14 in the league.
Eric Barefield came off the bench to lead the Mighty Macs' quartet of scorers with 17 points and six rebounds. Robert Siter recorded 16 on an 8 of 12 effort from the field,
John Boyd finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, while
Nelson Torres added 10 points and nine rebounds.
Abraham Ben registered a game-high 18 points for the Ravens. Harrison Carsillo added 13 points and Greg Gardner 11 for Rosemont.
Rosemont jumped ahead early 11-2 during the opening four minutes of the contest, but three straight buckets from Siter followed by a layup from Boyd trimmed the hosts lead to 11-10 by the 13:23 mark. Rosemont continued to hold the slight advantage until Barefield put up a layup that gave the Mighty Macs a 19-18 lead with 9:32 remaining before halftime.
The Mighty Macs led by just three (27-24) with 5:49 on the clock before the break when Immaculata went on a 12-4 run that gave the visitors their first double-figure lead of the night, 39-28, with 2:05 remaining. Immaculata would eventually hold a 41-30 lead at the intermission.
Rosemont trimmed the margin to nine three times during the first four minutes of the second half, but Immaculata's lead quickly ballooned to 17 (55-38) with 13:10 left. Despite the Ravens' attempts, they could not get the Mighty Macs' lead back into single digits the rest of the way.
Immaculata plays its final regular-season contest on Thursday night at 8 p.m. as it travels to Neumann.
