IMMACULATA, Pa. – Chelsea McTigue poured in a game-high 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Immaculata University to a 58-47 victory over visiting Cabrini College Thursday evening in a CSAC women's basketball contest inside Alumnae Hall.
Immaculata (13-8, 7-5 CSAC) evened the season series against Cabrini (13-9, 9-3), marking the Mighty Macs first win against the Cavaliers since February 15, 2006.
The Mighty Macs shot 51 percent in the second half, outscoring Cabrini, 36-25, for the victory. Chrissy Esbensen netted 10 points, and Bridget Welz hauled in 11 rebounds for Immaculata.
Tied at 22-all at the intermission, Immaculata opened the second half on a 13-0 run over the first 5:47 to lead by its largest margin of the contest, 35-22, with 14:29 left. Cabrini netted its first bucket of the second half at the 14:13 mark to spur an 8-2 run for the Cavaliers that cut their deficit to seven, 37-30, at the midway point.
The Cavaliers trimmed the Mighty Macs lead to five, 41-36, with 9:22 left, but that was as close as they would come as the Mighty Macs advantage hovered around 10 during the final 4:28.
Alyssa Brady led the Cavaliers with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Deana DiAmico was the other Cabrini starter in double figures with 14 points.
Immaculata travels to Rosemont on Monday, February 15 for a 6 p.m. tip against the Ravens.
