IMMACULATA, Pa. – Chelsea McTigue scored a team-high 11 points and Leah Kuczynski added 10 points and six steals to lead Immaculata University to a 77-49 non-league women's basketball victory over visiting California Institute of Technology Sunday afternoon inside Alumnae Hall.
Immaculata (6-3) remained unbeaten at home as it enters the holiday break with the win over Caltech (0-9) in the first meeting between the two schools.
The Mighty Macs forced 40 turnovers from the Beavers and scored 38 points off those miscues. Chrissy Esbensen and Janine Mullin each posted three steals of their own. Esbensen finished with six points and eight assists as well.
In all, 12 Immaculata players scored and the Mighty Macs had 36 points off the bench.
Caltech scored the opening basket 29 seconds in, and would be held scoreless for a six-minute span as Immaculata opened up a 12-2 lead. The Mighty Macs controlled the game the rest of the way, leading at halftime, 37-16.
Kelly Brown added eight points, Bridget Welz chipped in seven points, a team-leading four rebounds and four assists. Rachel Denis, Courtney Murphy and Mullin all had seven points. Brianna Duffin finished with five points, Marisa Kinsey had four, Ashley Mims had three, and Jessica Gaburo had two points.
Krissy Dahl had a game-high 16 points for Caltech, while Paige Logan recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Immaculata will be off until Jan. 6 when it travels to Elizabethtown for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
