WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Robert Siter posted 22 points as Immaculata men's basketball fell to Division II West Chester, 67-46, on Saturday night.
Siter was 10-for-15 from the field and made two free throws to rack up his game-high 22 points. The junior guard added five rebounds and three steals. Nelson Torres chipped in 11 points and three assists. Brandon Smith led the Mighty Macs on the glass with six rebounds.
Immaculata trailed by just two at halftime, 29-27, as the Mighty Macs put together a 15-2 run to pull the contest close during the final 10 minutes of the opening half.
The host Golden Rams had pushed their advantage to 27-12 with 9:14 to play, appearing to have the game in control. Siter drove in for a layup at the 8:57 mark to spark an 11-0 Immaculata run over 3:36. Siter had six points during the spurt while Kendall Peters sunk a 3-pointer and Eric Barefield had a pair of foul shots.
West Chester answered with a Jaleel Mack jumper with 4:11 to play in the stanza, but Immaculata continued to chip away with Torres and Smith buckets to close the half down by just two.
Immaculata continued its run during the first two minutes of the second half as Siter gave the Mighty Macs their first lead of the tilt, 30-29, on a jumper and free throw. West Chester responded with eight unanswered points over the next three minutes, putting the hosts back on top the rest of the way.
Lance McDowell recorded a double-double for the Golden Rams on 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Shannon Givens also tallied 12 points.
Immaculata returns to action on Monday night, Dec. 20, traveling to Eastern for a 6 p.m. tip. Fans who bring a new unwrapped toy for donation to Toys for Tots will get into the game free of charge.
