READING, Pa. – Immaculata's Bridget Cunningham beat Penn State Berks' goalkeeper and buried the ball into the left corner with 42 seconds remaining in the first overtime to lift the Mighty Macs to the 2-1 overtime victory against the Nittany Lions on Wednesday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions struck first in the 33rd minute as Taylor Kreider corralled the loose ball and booted it into the left corner.
Penn State Berks (6-7) would lead 1-0 at halftime, and continued that margin through the first 25 minutes of the second half.
Kim Steinke evened the score at 1-1 in the 72nd minute as she got Immaculata on the board with a goal off Erin Lewis' cross.
After neither team could break through during the final 18 minutes of regulation, Cunningham sent the visitors home with the win 9:18 into the overtime.
Immaculata goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo made five saves as she was credited with the win. Berks' goalie Cassidy Dawson made eight stops.
Immaculata (6-7-1) travels to Marywood on Saturday afternoon for a CSAC match at 1 p.m. against the Pacers.
