IMMACULATA, Pa. – Robert Siter scored 17 points and Nelson Torres added 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead host Immaculata to a 70-57 victory over visiting Keystone College in CSAC men's basketball action Monday evening inside Alumnae Hall.
Immaculata (8-6, 6-1 CSAC) upped its winning streak to three games overall and six straight in conference play since dropping the opener to Centenary. Keystone (8-5, 4-3) dropped its second straight conference tilt with the loss.
A 15-4 spurt midway through the first half broke a 9-all tie and put the Mighty Macs on top 24-13 – a lead the hosts would never relinquish. Jeff DeSantis and Nelson Torres each stoked the run with five points apiece. John Boyd (10 points) hit a 3-pointer, and Siter drained a jumper in that spurt.
Keystone made its last gasp effort at Immaculata with nine minutes to go, using an 11-3 run to pull to within six. However, two jumpers in the paint from Torres and Boyd, and a 3-ball from Kendall Peters, pushed the advantage back to 13 (58-45).
The Mighty Macs shot 49 percent from the field (25-for-51) in the game, including a 57.1 percent clip (12 of 21) in the second half.
Kenneth Hardnett led the Giants with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Spencer Lunger posted 15 points before fouling out late in the game, and Malcolm Boone notched 13.
Siter added three assists and three steals to his line in the box score.
Immaculata is back in action on Thursday when the Mighty Macs travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a pivotal CSAC matchup. Immaculata sits in a tie for second place with Neumann at 6-1 in the conference. They each trail Cabrini, who was idle Monday, by half a game. Gwynedd-Mercy defeated Centenary on the road to improve to 4-1 in league play.
