Andrew Sim Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Lacrosse Squad

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Immaculata University's Andrew Sim was honored as a member of the 2009 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Lacrosse Team as released on July 19.  Sim is one of 12 student-athletes from around the Philadelphia area selected to the academic all-area team. Honorees are voted on by sports information offices at the 28 institutions in the surrounding Philadelphia metropolitan area. 

A two-time Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area selection, the junior Math and Secondary Education major from Prospect Park, Pa., is also a three-time all-league academic selection. He has also been recognized three times as a dean's list honoree, and in addition, Sim is also a member of Immaculata University's Undergraduate Honor Society. 

In addition to being selected to the Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Honorable Mention Team in 2009, he was selected to the CSAC Weekly Honor Roll on April 13.  Sim was named to the second team All-PAC in both 2007 and 2008. 

On the field, Sim recorded an overall .545 save percentage while allowing 12.38 goals against during the 2009 season. Starting all 13 games for the Mighty Macs, Sim tallied a record of 4-9 between the crease while also amassed 44 ground balls and causing six turnovers. 

Sim is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Lacrosse Team by Colin Ambler of Drexel, Haverford's Matt Dooley, Eric Farris from Ursinus, Chris Ficke and Brian Karalunas of Villanova, Neumann's Kyle Gardner, Ben O'Donnell from Eastern, Widener's Matt Parrot and Nick Politarhos and Peter Slowik of Saint Joseph's.
