Immaculata Splits Its Two Semifinal Contests Saturday

Mighty Macs advance to Sunday

ASTON, Pa. - After dropping the first game to top-seed and host Neumann, 10-0 in five innings, Immaculata rebounded for an 8-0 win in six innings in the second contest of the day to advance to Sunday's final round of the 2009 CSAC Softball Championships.

Immaculata (17-18) will take on the loser of the Neumann-Centenary game taking place Saturday afternoon in an elimination game on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. The winner of that game advances to the CSAC Championship where it will face the winner of the Neumann-Centenary contest.

Melissa Fetter tossed a two-hit shutout in the second game to stave of elimination and advance the Mighty Macs to the Sunday's final round. Her two-run single in the fourth was part of a three-run frame that staked Immaculata to a 7-0 lead.  Jackie Finkbohner hit a run-scoring double in the fourth to go along with Fetter's two-bagger.

Julia Lamplugh doubled in a run during Immaculata's four-run first that put the Mighty Macs on top early. Sara Holleran hit an RBI groundout in the first as well.

In the opener, Immaculata managed just three hits off Neumann with Holleran, Valerie Rutt-Guerrie and Melinda Monastra rapped out hits for the Mighty Macs.

Neumann scored twice in the first and then ended the game with an eight-run fifth.
