Softball Sweeps Home Finale Opposite Rosemont

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Immaculata's softball team celebrated senior day Thursday afternoon honoring its five seniors, Melissa Fetter, Val Rutt-Guerriere, Jackie Mullineaux, Maureen Kelly and Tori Musselman, with a Colonial States Athletic Conference sweep of Rosemont.

Fetter tossed a three-hitter in game one and the Mighty Macs exploded with 16 runs in the nightcap to lead Immaculata to the sweep, 12-0 and 16-4, both five-inning affairs.

Mindy Monastra hit a three-run homer, the first homerun of her career, in the fourth inning and finished 1-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored in the opener. Megan Gallagher was also 2-for-3 with three RBI while Carol Mastrosante went 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in the first game.

The Mighty Macs (12-16, 11-7 CSAC) scored four in the bottom of the first, added two more in the third and then tacked on six more, four unearned, in the fourth inning to shorten the game to five innings. Fetter (8-6) walked three and struck out eight, going the distance for the win.

Rosemont (1-22, 1-17 CSAC) registered two of its three hits in the top of the first inning.

In the nightcap, Jackie Finkbohner was 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored, and Mastrosante knocked in three more runs to lead Immaculata to the five-inning win. a seven-run second inning did most of the damage for the Mighty Macs.

Fetter, Julia Lamplugh and Gallagher were all 2-for-3, knocking in a combined four runs. Rutt-Guerriere and Sara Holleran each also had one RBI.

Rutt-Guerriere (4-9) went the distance walking two and striking out four. She allowed eight Rosemont hits and all four runs were earned.

The Ramblers scored first in game two as Ashley Conti had a leadoff double and was driven in by Caitlin Mazzoni. Rosemont scored two more runs in the fourth and added one run in the fifth

Immaculata will travel to Marywood on Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
