Cabrini Spoils Immaculata Senior Night, 64-48

IMMACULATA, Pa.
– The Immaculata women's basketball squad had its senior night spoiled by visiting Cabrini, 64-48, Thursday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

 

Sophomore Chelsea McTigue poured in a game-high 20 points to lead three Immaculata (11-13, 7-8 CSAC) scorers in double figures. Freshman Bridget Welz chipped in 11 points while senior Dominique Murray recorded 10 points and four assists.

 

Senior Kasey Hicks made six assists in the contest to move into second place on the Mighty Macs' all-time assists ledger with 474. Hicks also led the team on the glass with nine rebounds and four points.

 

Cabrini (21-4, 15-1 CSAC) out ahead 10-0 during the first 2:31 on seven points from Kayleen Smith before Kelly Brown got Immaculata on the board with a free throw at the 17:11 mark.

 

The Cavaliers pushed their margin to 13 points midway through the first half, 22-9, when the Mighty Macs made a run. Immaculata held Cabrini scoreless during a three-minute stretch as the Mighty Macs scored eight points, six by McTigue, to cut the deficit to 22-17 with 6:43 to play before halftime.

 

Cabrini outscored Immaculata 11-0 during the final 6:27 to push its lead to 16 at the intermission, 33-17.

 

The Mighty Macs trimmed the margin to eight, 43-35, with 12:05 remaining in the contest, but that was the only time Immaculata trailed by single digits the rest of the way.

 

Brittany McLeod recorded a double-double for the Cavaliers with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Smith had a team-best 13 points while Rachel Caron added 10.

 

Immaculata plays its final contest of the season on Saturday, Feb. 21, when the Mighty Macs travel to Keystone for an 11:30 a.m. tilt against the Giants.
