GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Host Gwynedd-Mercy held off Immaculata, 82-69, on Monday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action.
Kyle Finklea led all scorers with 24 points and added five boards, four assists and three steals. Julius Lopez chipped in 18 as Immaculata was 26-of-62 (.419) from the field.
The Mighty Macs (7-17, 5-10 CSAC) kept within striking distance of the Griffins, who once led by 12 points late in the first half, only to have Immaculata cut the margin to 42-34 at halftime.
The second half had the same tempo as every time the Griffins made a run to pull away, the Mighty Macs had an answer to keep pace. Gwynedd-Mercy held a 10-point lead with 6:58 left, when Kyle Finklea nailed a three to make it a 68-61 game. Finklea then made it 73-67 with his ninth field goal with 2:33 left.
Jon Hogga would then hit a key trey with just over a minute remaining to swing the momentum back to the Griffin's favor, and they held on for the 82-69 win.
Lemeire Talley led Gwynedd-Mercy (19-5, 12-3 CSAC) scoring 20 points. Dan DelConte netted 17 points while Haven Wroten added 10 points and 11 boards for the double-double.
Immaculata plays its final contest of the season on Thursday, Feb. 19, hosting Cabrini at 8 p.m. on Senior Night.
