HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Centenary's Rob Urie converted a layup with 21 seconds left, and Immaculata's Todd Stokley's potential game-winning layup at the buzzer was blocked as the Cyclones edged the Mighty Macs, 76-75, Thursday evening at Folker Family Gymnasium.
Immaculata falls to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the CSAC while Centenary improves to 4-2, 2-0 in the league.
The contest was tied at 55-all with 8:33 remaining when the Cyclones went on a 12-5 run over the next five minutes to take a 67-60 lead with 3:25 to play. From there, Immaculata chipped away capping a 15-7 spurt on a bucket from
Rob Siter with 38 seconds remaining to give the Mighty Macs a 75-74 advantage.
Immaculata spread out the scoring putting five different players in double figures led by
Eric Barefield's 14 points. Stokley finished with 13 points, Siter and
Nelson Torres each added 12 points and
John Boyd added 10.
Kendall Peters was the Mighty Macs' leading rebounder with six boards.
Centenary also had five players in double digits, led by 16 points apiece from Corey Kearney and Urie.
Immaculata opens the home slate on Saturday welcoming Rosemont into Alumnae Hall for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
