Men's Basketball Falls To Ursinus In Overtime, 90-87

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Immaculata University men's basketball team was unable to ward off Ursinus' run as the Bears rallied for  90-87 overtime win against the visiting Mighty Macs Tuesday night in non-conference action.

Immaculata led for much of the overtime period, including a seven-point advantage with 47 seconds to go on a pair of foul shots by John Boyd. However, Ursinus got a three-point play with 42 seconds left as Remy Cousart cut the lead to four. On the ensuing possession, Immaculata missed two foul shots, and Ursinus got to within one on another three-point play by Cousart.

With the shot clock off, Immaculata turned the ball over on the inbounds pass, giving the Bears the ball. Cousart's layup with 20 ticks remaining gave Ursinus its first lead of the extra frame, 88-87.

On Immaculata's next possession, Nelson Torres missed a layup with nine seconds left, and Ursinus' Matt Hilton came down with the rebound. Hilton was immediately fouled, and made both shots to give Ursinus a 90-87 lead. Immaculata tried a three-pointer at the buzzer, but did not get shot off in time.

Immaculata (4-6) got 23 points from Boyd while Robert Siter added 21 to lead all Mighty Mac scorers. Immaculata got 15 points from Torres, and 16 points off the bench from Kendell Peters. Peters, who scored all 16 of his points during the first half, connected on four three-pointers. The Mighty Macs were hot from long range all night, connecting on 10 three-pointers.

Ursinus' Cousart poured in a game-high 31 points. Hilton had 20 points, and John Ward added 15 for the Bears. Cousart scored 26 of his points in the second half, including 10 points in the extra frame. All five of the Bears' starters scored in double figures.

Immaculata is off until the new year when it hosts Haverford on Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. in Alumnae Hall.
