Women's Basketball Picks Up 71-59 Win At Arcadia

- Chelsea McTigue poured in a game-high 25 points on a 9-for-12 effort from the floor and Leah Kuczynski added 19 points to power Immaculata University's women's basketball team to a 71-59 victory over Arcadia University in non-conference action Tuesday evening. 

The Mighty Macs (6-2) opened the game on a 15-0 run before the Knights got on the scoreboard at the 15:02 mark. Kuczynski had six points in the spurt while Chrissy Esbensen added four. Arcadia did not get its first basket from the field until Angie Adams sunk a three-pointer with 12:52 remaining to cut Immaculata's lead to 17-7.

Immaculata led by as many as 16 during the opening stanza, 25-9, with 11:22 left, but Arcadia was able to cut the margin to just six by halftime, 36-30.

The Knights (3-6) then made it a four-point game five minutes into the second half. After the Mighty Macs extended their lead back to double figures, the Knights continued to hang around chipping their deficit back to four, 53-49, with 9:23 left in the contest. However, Arcadia could not keep up with Immaculata down the stretch as the Knights were just 6 of 16 from the line during the final nine minutes.

McTigue had 19 of her 25 points during a 35-point second half for Immaculata, and also had five rebounds. Bridget Welz led the squad on the boards with eight rebounds to go along with her seven points, and Kuczynski added six rebounds. Esbensen finished with nine points and a team-leading six assists.

Jackie Law hauled in a game-high 21 rebounds while adding 13 points to lead the Knights. Kim Milligan scored 11 points and brought down nine rebounds while Adams added 11 points for Arcadia. 

The Mighty Macs controlled the ball, committing only nine turnovers while Arcadia turned the ball over 19 times.

Immaculata returns to action on Monday, Dec. 21 hosting Delaware Valley at Alumnae Hall at 6 p.m.
