ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Immaculata women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Cedar Crest on Thursday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
Margaret Kelley and Erika LaMarch earned the Mighty Macs (1-8, 1-3 CSAC) two points of the match. Kelley defeated
Maria Mallery at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-3. LaMarch was victorious at No. 3 singles over Laura Shivley in a tie-breaker, 2-6, 6-4, 13-11.
The Falcons (7-4, 3-1 CSAC) swept doubles action against the Mighty Macs. Kelley and
Amanda Wilson fell to Mallery and
Alexandria Kuebler, 8-1, at the top spot. LaMarch and Felicia Thomas were downed 8-5 at No. 2 singles by Shivley and Sara Messner, while Kristen East and Katherine Boyle were topped by Sarah Schopf and Amy Dichter, 8-1, at third doubles.
Cedar Crest's Kuebler posted a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 2 singles against Wilson, while Messner added a victory in No. 4 singles against Immaculata's Thomas, 6-1, 7-5. East lost in a tie-breaker to Dichter, 6-3, 3-6, 10-4, at No. 5 singles, Boyle was defeated at No. 6 singles by Schopf, 6-1, 6-0.
The Mighty Macs will travel to league opponent Neumann on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1:00 p.m.
