Immaculata Women’s Tennis Swept By Gwynedd-Mercy, 9-0

IMMACULATA, Pa.
– Immaculata's women's tennis team was swept, 9-0, by Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday in the conference-opener for the Mighty Macs.

The Griffins swept all nine matchups in straight sets. Margaret Kelley won three games in the second set at first singles against Davida Phillips, while Amanda Wilson took one game in her match against Alana Rumpel at second singles. Erika LaMarch won two games in the first set and won four games in the second set, but fell to Erin Fallon at No. 3 singles. Felicia Thomas won two games and one game, respectively, at fourth singles opposite Chelsea Donde, and Katherine Boyle dropped her match at No. 5 singles by straight 6-0 sets to Ashley Bowie.

Immaculata's No. 2 doubles tandem of LaMarch and Thomas had a hard-fought match but eventually fell 8-6 to Phillips and Fallon. The doubles team of Kelley and Wilson were defeated 8-1 at No.1 doubles by Rumpel and Donde and Boyle and Kristen East fell 8-0 at third doubles to Bowie and Jessica Scarpello.

The Mighty Macs continue conference action on Tuesday, Sept. 16, hosting the College of Notre Dame at 4 p.m.
